Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common Medicare questions.

When should I start preparing for Medicare?

Your Initial Enrollment Period generally lasts seven months: the three months before the month you turn 65, your birthday month and the three months after. Starting about three months before your birthday gives you time to understand your choices and avoid a rushed decision.

What is the difference between Medicare Advantage and a Supplement?

Medicare Advantage replaces how you receive your Part A and Part B benefits through a private plan and may include drug coverage and extra benefits. A Medicare Supplement works alongside Original Medicare to help with certain out-of-pocket costs; prescription coverage is usually purchased separately.

Do I need a separate prescription drug plan?

If you use Original Medicare with or without a Supplement, you may need a standalone Part D plan. Many Medicare Advantage plans already include prescription drug coverage. Your current medications and preferred pharmacies are important when comparing options.

Does getting help from Goldmont cost me anything?

You do not pay Goldmont Health a separate fee for Medicare plan comparison or enrollment assistance. If you enroll in a plan, the insurance carrier may compensate Goldmont Health.

Can you help me if I already have Medicare?

Yes. Whitney can help review your current coverage during an applicable enrollment period and explain whether another available option may better fit your needs.

Can you help with dental and vision?

Yes. Some Medicare Advantage plans include dental or vision benefits, and separate dental and vision plans may also be available.

What information should I prepare before our conversation?

Have a list of your doctors, preferred hospitals, prescriptions, pharmacies, current coverage and coverage priorities. Do not submit your Social Security number, Medicare ID or payment information through the website.
